The file manager is a complete tool for managing all your DOS command needs
It has every features that programs like Norton Commander 3.0, QDOS, PCTOOLS
and tools like that. With this you can manage all your needs and a little
extra too.
The colors are refered to as: Normal, High and Bold.
(Default Terminate colors: Normal=Gray, High=Cyan, Bold=Yellow).

The top is used to display which drives are available in your system.
Colors mean:
Normal = Drive not present
^hHigh^n = Drive present
^bBold^n = Current drive
^b· ·^n Around a letter will show which path is available when pressing the TAB
key. Small letters will always be CD-ROM drives (Only when MSCDEX is loaded).
For changing FAST to another drive available, just hold down Ctrl and press
the letter of the desired drive. Then the current directory on that drive
will be the current. Note that you can turn off drives to test in the
configuration (general options 1). If some drives are too slow to test,
like a CD-ROM or a tapestreamer used as special drive. A and B will always
be highlighted even though they are not available.
^bK^n
Mask is the wildcard mask when reading the files in the current directory.
If you use *.EXE or *.GIF only those files will be used. You can also use
jokers (?) which only replaces 1 character in the mask.
^bP^n
When pressing P you can enter the complete path manually. If you want to
create a sub directory you can also use the command. Just enter the new
path and you will be asked to confirm creation
The below small window will tell you how big and how much free space you
have on the current disk. If the drive is a CD-ROM then it will say
CD-ROM and free will always be 0, because it is not possible to write on
a CD-ROM (at least not yet). Selected/Bytes/transfer time is to see the
status on files tagged and how long it would take to transfer via
modem, calculated on the CPS-rate (characters per second), which you can
change when pressing T. Normally the maximum baud rate divided by 10 will
give you the appr. number.

Below is a complete window with directory and files in. Any directories
will be highlighted and will have <DIR> in size. It will show all
information there is to need about the files in the current path, but
you can also choose to have 2 windows at the same time. Press ^hW^n to toggle
windows, then you will not get as many informations but you will be able to
see and use 2 paths at the same time.
Attributes are defined as follows:
R = Readonly Nobody can write/delete to the file/directory
H = Hidden File/Directory is hidden when using the DIR command
S = System File/directory is used by DOS or other operating system
A = Archive This attribute is normally used for determine if the
file should be backed up, but it can be used for other
things also.
You can both change the attributes on files and directories when placing
the menubar on an entry and press A.
The time after the attribute information is how long in minutes and seconds
it would take to transfer the file with the current CPS.

^bMovements^n
Use cursor-up/down keys to move up and down at the files/directories.
Terminate uses also QUICK-keys, which means you can press ALT-A..ALT-Z
To move the menubar to the next file starting with that letter.
^bLeft cursor^n (^h<^n An arrow pointing to the left)
Will change to parent directory. If you are in C:\DOS and press
left cursor you will be in C:\, nothing will happend if you are standing
in the ROOT directory. This is much faster than other system which first
wants you to move up to a parent or .. dir and press return.
^bRight cursor^n (^h>^n An arrow pointing to the right)
If you are standing on a directory and press right arrow you will change
to that directory. The reason why ^hRETURN^n not is used is because
when you upload RETURN will start the transfer. Please get used to
use the arrows, then you will notice it is MUCH faster to navigate through
your harddisk.
^b.^n
When pressing on the dot all drives will be retested if they are available,
also drives which has been excluded in the configuration.
^b\^n
A backslash will change to the ^hROOT^n directory on the current drive
^b+^n
Will tag all files
^b-^n
Will untag all files
^b*^n
All tagged files will be untagged and all untagged will be tagged
I guess you really have missed this function is you are using
Norton Commander.
^bSPACE^n
Tag/untag file under menubar
^bTAB^n
The filemanager can use 2 different paths, and you can switch between
the paths by pressing TAB.
^bT^n
Enter CPS (characters per second) to base on calculations with total
selected files and for each file. The normal CPS is a little less than
your baudrate divided by 10. (19200 = 1920, 14400 = 1440, 2400 = 240).
^bS^n
Allows you to select how you want the files sorted in the current file
window.
^hNam ^nFilename
^hExt ^nExtension, then filename
^hDate ^nNewest files in top
^hSiz ^nBiggest files in top
^hNo ^nNo sort
^bC^n
Copy file at menubar, if any files are tagged they will be copied
to another directory. If no files are tagged and the menubar is on a file
then you could copy the file to another filename, just as a rename but
you will also have the original file.
^bM^n
Move file or files to another file directory, works just like COPY, but
deletes then file afterwards.
^bR^n
Rename a file or a directory
^bD^n (^hDEL^n)
Delete a file or a directory. You can also press the key called
^bDEL/DELETE^n. If you try to delete a directory and it is not empty,
you will be asked to confirm deletion of entire directory and all
sub-entries, normally called a KILLTREE function.
^bA^n
Change attributes (se above) on a directory or a file
^bJ^n (^hAlt-J^n)
DOS-shell, calls COMMAND.COM (COMSPEC) and lets you perform whatever
you likes. You can setup how to swap memory out first in the configuration.
^bU^n
Compare the 2 paths and tags files either IN or NOT IN the other window.
I bet if you have used Norton Commander you have missed one of the functions
^bZ^n
Will calculate the size of the current and all sub-directories.
^bV^n
View the file under the menubar. Calls the external lister program.
^bE^n
Edit the file under the menubar. Call the external editor.
^bF^n
Finds a file. You can enter a wildcard (*,?) filename. First current
drive will be searched, then all available drives. You can press space
to skip current search drive. Return to select file, or abort with ESC.
When a file is selected, the manager will change to the directory where
the file is present, tag the file and place the menubar on the file.
^bW^n
Toggle between 1 window display or 2 windows display
^bI^n
Shows information on all available drives. If any drives are SUBST or
remapped by a network. (Resolved path).
You will be asked a value to warn below and a update timer, so you can
setup to update every X second, so if you are on a network you can use
it to monitor the disks. If the size on any drive is below the warn value
the size will flash and a sound will be played.
^bX^n
Extension edit. Works almost like Norton Commander. Please read look in
the file called TERMINAT.EXT for more information on how to setup this.
Default is defined a lot of extensions. Lets say you press return on a
file called HELLO.TXT. Then the external editor will be called and you
will be allowed to edit the file. You can identify all the files where
an extension has been found by the ^b·^n at the same line as the filename.
^m│ ^nAUTOEXEC.BAT 3-Apr-93 17:02 1229 ---A 0:00·^m│^n

^bO^n
Here you can enter any command you like. When you then press return then
command will be executed. You can enter a !M to swap out memory if not
selected in the configuration. But also a !F or !D which will be replaced
with the name under the menubar and the current directory
The bottom line is all your external utilities which you can setup in the
configuration. Look there for help on how to set up those. The programs
are called when you press F1-F10 (also F11,F12).
